Start with your own evidence and draft
Source packet: 46 of 80 voluntary survey respondents want later library hours. One quiet room had 18, 22, and 20 of 24 seats occupied at 8 p.m. on three evenings. Staffing costs $40 per additional hour.
You already have a position and evidence to examine. Your draft also includes claims that go beyond what you have established.
Ask for critique with a boundary
Examine the feedback rather than obeying it
- Suggestion A: Explain that the survey was voluntary and show the denominator.
- Suggestion B: Consider a short pilot before recommending a permanent change.
- Suggestion C: Add that most students work full time and that later hours improve grades.
A suggestion can sound useful and still introduce unsupported information. Return to the packet and decide which advice actually helps your argument.

Close the AI output. List the evidence and the decision you can defend. Then write a new paragraph using your own organization and reasoning.
Why this revision is stronger
- The survey’s denominator and voluntary participation are visible.
- The recommendation is separated from the observations that motivate it.
- The cost follows from 2 hours × 3 evenings × $40.
- Claims about grades and employment were removed because the packet does not support them.
Keep the learning yours
Changing synonyms in an AI-written paragraph is not the same process. Here you checked evidence, selected a recommendation, rejected unsupported claims, and wrote the final reasoning yourself.
Retain your original attempt and a short revision rationale. Disclose the critique if required. Before submitting, explain why you chose a pilot and what additional evidence would change your recommendation.
